Bang cheon ri Landfill Gas-To Energy Plant
The construction of the Bangcheon-ri Landfill Gas-to-Energy project was completed in 2006 at a cost of 26 billion KRW. Since then Daesung Eco-Energy has been in charge of its management and operations. Annually Daesung collects approximately 40 million㎥ of gas from the site and turns the landfill gas into useful energy. In 2007 this project was registered as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and has improved local air quality by reducing a greenhouse gas equivalent of 310,000 tons of CO2 per year. It was also the first time that a municipality, the city of Daegu, was given CDM certification. The profit from selling CERs amounts to more than two billion KRW per year.

Daegu Hydrogen Station
Daegu Hydrogen Station is a hydrogen fueling system for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. It is capable of compressing and storing hydrogen fuel produced by water electrolysis and recharging it at the pressure of 350 bar or 700 bar through the dispenser. It is one of largest scale hydrogen stations in Korea and can produce 50 Nm3/h of hydrogen by alkaline electrolysis and refuel 20 cars per day. By building this hydrogen station, Daegu expects to accelerate the dissemination of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in preparation for the coming era of electrolytic hydrogen as an alternative to fossil fuels. Moreover, EM Korea is expected to lead the commercialization of water electrolytic hydrogen stations along the lines of those adopted by advanced countries such as the United States and Japan.
